Visual content will again be a major trend in 2018, and a new infographic published by FramesDirect has given brands and marketers a few pointers for the year ahead as they attempt to engage with clients via high quality videos, images and infographics.
The first notable tip is that articles with an image inserted after every 75 to 100 words are much more shareable on social platforms. This is because bite sized prose and relevant visual aids are easier to consume, and they keep a reader engaged for an entire post.
The infographic also recommends front loading infographics with the most important information to hook the reader in. This means all the relevant points must be made during the first two paragraphs, before being expanded on further during the remainder of the article, and being supplemented by a variety of eye catching images.
Subheadings and bullet points should also be used where possible. Large blocks of text and long winded paragraphs can be both daunting and off putting for readers who want to consume the information they need quickly and easily at a glance.
Other interesting takeaways include the fact that internet users read just a fifth of the text on a web page and 85% of Facebook users watch videos with the sound turned off. Tailoring visual content for each social platform will be more important in 2018, while tech such as virtual reality and augmented reality will begin to have a major impact on the “visual internet”.
