Google is aiming to educate and entertain marketers with a new video series based on search engine optimisation myths covering topics including Googlebot, best tactics, apps and JavaScript frameworks.
Content marketing and SEO often go hand in hand, but the finer details of SEO can be difficult to manage and implement correctly. Google said that “SEO can be a bit of a black box” for brands and is hoping that the new series, titled “SEO Mythbusting”, will deliver much-needed insights and tips.
The Google Webmasters YouTube channel uploaded an official trailer for the series on 2 May. The videos will see developer and SEO communities talk about technical SEO in order to clear up misconceptions and answer common queries. The topics that will be discussed include communication between SEOs and developers and Googlebot, the generic name for Google’s own web crawler.
Google said that the first video will go live the week after its hotly anticipated I/O media event, which will take place in California over three days from 7 May. The tech giant is tipped to unveil a next-gen UI framework for Android, launch new devices, and talk about a number of other offerings at the event.
The “SEO Mythbusting” series will be helmed by Martin Splitt, Google’s developer advocate, and will feature on the Google Webmasters channel during its initial run. The trailer also indicates an increase in the quality of production values for Google’s latest videos, rather than them merely featuring a single person directly addressing the camera.
