WordPress launches integrated SEO tools

WordPress is making it easier for publishers to write SEO-friendly content with the arrival of several new advanced SEO tools. The latest additions, which include custom meta descriptions and title formats, will enable brands to optimise their sites more effectively for Google, Bing and social media platforms.

WordPress has rolled out the built-in SEO features for Business Plan users, so it will be particularly useful for micro-business owners and other enterprise owners who don’t necessarily have search engine expertise at their disposal. These tools have been available before as add-ons, but they will now be integrated into the core service.

Custom meta descriptions

The first tool will enable publishers to create a custom meta description. Typically, search engines will create a description that shows up in SERPs from content published on the web, but the advanced tool will allow for a customised summary that can be optimised in order to engage readers and increase its SEO ranking potential.

Custom title formats

The arrival of custom title formats will also aid publishers in their quest for a better search engine page ranking. Users will be able to customise how each of the page titles on their websites appears to end users, and they can also reorder items and add custom separators to break up content and items. This means that page titles can be also formatted as Post Title/Site Name or Site Name/Tagline.

Search and social previews

The third and final major advanced SEO addition is a preview tool that lets users see exactly how their content will look before they publish it. Users will also be able to see how content will be viewed on a variety of different networks, including Facebook, Twitter and Google Search.

Effective marketing

WordPress has designed intuitive SEO tools to help all business site owners to market themselves effectively and “become more successful.” Google revealed earlier this year that content is one of the three most important factors for website ranking, so even the most basic of tools can be hugely beneficial for optimising articles and blog pieces to ensure that they are relevant and reach the correct target audience.
