Facebook pages designed for business owners have received updates aimed at improving mobile customer engagement.
Page owners can now start using redesigned for mobile call-to-action (CTA) buttons that have a more prominent placement on a business’s Facebook Page.
According to the company’s own data; in excess of 655 million people access Facebook exclusively on mobile devices. To put this into context; taking all devices into account over 1 billion people visit Facebook pages every month.
The new customisation options for business pages have been added with the aim of making
Pages look more like websites. The new moves are the latest in the company’s efforts to back up their claim to be the best business web platform.
Although content writing will continue to be an important factor, business page owners can now customise their pages by adding a selection of new sections, including Shop and Services.
The new Shop section allows the sale of products directly from the Facebook page using the
Buy button that was released this year.
At present the new Shop and Services sections are only available to those pages that come under the “Local Business” or “Place” category.
Facebook pages are also apparently going to receive an extensive layout redesign based around
tabbed navigation that allows quick jumps between different sections.
The announcement of the new features, made on Facebook’s own business news pages, explained the thinking behind the latest moves.
“The coming layout changes to Pages organise information better, so people can find what they’re looking for quickly,” read the statement.
“People are spending more time on their phones and tablets, which means businesses need to keep up with people’s expectation that they can find information and communicate with a business anytime, anywhere, on any device. The recent updates to Pages help businesses communicate easily with people through messaging and emphasise the information that helps them drive their goals, making Facebook the mobile solution for your business. And this is just the beginning,” it claimed.
